Georgia Twirl Easter Dress

Okay I have to say this is one of my absolute favorite patterns ever!!! Perfect for an Easter dress. Every year I make my daughter an Easter dress. When I came across this one I thought it would be perfect especially because of the twirl factor. What little girl doesn't like a twirl? Seriously!

Overall, I thought this pattern was a pretty easy sew. I will say it never says to finish your seams in it, but I did anyways with my serger. I also found that by surging the edges of the circle skirt when sewing it allowed for the hemming part to be pretty seamless and not that difficult even though it is a little time consuming. Another thing is that since my coordinating fabric for the top of the bodice was an eyelet, so I just cut it out and I cut out the full bodice piece out of the green linen then just played the coordination piece over top of the full bodice piece and attached them that way. Oh and one other thing my daughter measured at a size five but I cut the bodice and waist for the circle skirt at a five and then the length of the circle skirt at a six. So if you have a string bean girl like me those are the measurements I used.
I seriously can't get over how cute this dress turned out!

Below are a few additional pictures I took without the cardigan so you can really see the dress...

Shwin Shwin Pattern Test of the Harrison Hoodie

Seriously loved sewing this adorable Harrison Hoodie for my little guy! I was expecting it to be a much harder sew than it actually was. It actually came together fairly quickly and seamlessly. Thanks Shauna for letting me be apart of the pattern test!

It's a Boy!

We love parties... so what better excuse to have one than to celebrate the upcoming arrival of a Baby Boy! We decided to go with an elegant theme of using black, white, and gold colors for the shower and here is how it all turned out...

I created a couple of banners with the help of Julie and her silhouette. We found these awesome templates from Bottle Your Brand for onesies, ties, and bowties.
We then used the extras on the food table as confetti.
Congratulations Jaylynn, I can't wait to meet your baby boy!

Super Bowl Party!

Since this year Carolina was in the Super Bowl we decided that we would invite some friends over to watch. I thought since we were having some people over, not only did the food have to be good, but our house could use a few decorations so this is what we came up with...
Carolina Panther's banner over the fireplace is just made of felt and hot glue... super easy.
Then over the island I cut out "Concessions" with the help of Julie and created this adorable banner.
We also had these items to go with it...
Finally, we created shirts for kiddos and ourselves in each of our families. I attempted to find shirts at my local target or even online.. and there was NOTHING! Yeah I guess since the Panthers technically aren't in our city they don't have a big of a supply, or something along those lines.
Go Panthers!

Valentine Blocks "Hugs, Kisses, Valentine Wishes"

In hopes to help winter pass a little faster I figured I would create something fun for Valentine's Day. With the help of my sister-in-law, Julie we came up with this fun design on her Silhouette...

We ended up cutting a 2 by 4 piece of wood into a seven, nine, and eleven inch blocks. Then we painted them with acrylic craft paint and used contact paper to transfer the vinyl onto the wood.

One TIP- After I painted the blocks I used Modge Podge over the paint so that the paint wouldn't stick to my white wooden mantel when finished. It just provided an extra layer of protection. Oh and if you want to keep the mess under control, and don't have newspaper just laying around, cut down the sides of a garage bag and lay it out onto your table... Perfect for quick easy clean up!

Christmas Jammies

Every year I make Christmas jammies for our family and this year was even more fun since my husband now has a little buddy to match with! The boys sported "Stashing through the snow" fabric while the girls had coordinating polkadot jammies. I love how we always match! It's been so fun to see how excited my daughter gets when I tell her I am working on the jammies. Sorry about the above picture quality, on Christmas morning I'll take what I can get.

Handmade Polar Express

Ever since we went on the Polar Express in Branson MO Makayla hasn't stopped talking about it. So this year since we wouldn't be able to go again, we made our own. All we did was took some boxes taped them up and added a longer piece of cardboard to the top so that it would arc like the train. You can't use super stiff cardboard or else it won't bend so a medium to thin weight was perfect. We then covered the boxes with white butcher paper and Makayla got to paint them. Once they were finished we invited over a friend to watch the Polar Express while having popcorn and hot coco in their train car. Such a fun way to light up the season.
